Country of origin: Argentina.

Ancestors of the breed: Shetland Pony and Thoroughbred.

Primary uses: harness pony and pet. Color: all colors and patterns.

Height: under 7 hands; averaging 30 to 32.5 inches high at the withers. Some may be as small as 23 inches.

Physique: proportioned like a miniature horse; fine bones and small feet.

Character: gentle and courageous.

While the Falabella is very small, it is not a pony. Rather it is a miniature horse because it's conformation is like that of a horse.
