Hi folks :-)

I was just wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me out and either give me a rough guide to transportation of livestock/equine rules, or point me to somewhere that has the basics. It seems so complicated, especially if you need to cross borders (England to Scotland or vice versa).

Thanks in advance, I can't seem to find a concise and relatively easy to digest version of the guidelines anywhere!

i know there's a lot of red tape around livestock but horses i thought were pretty straight forward if it wasn't for commercial use. As long as they are in a specific horse box/trailer and wern't traveling for more then 8 hours at a time with regular breaks for water and access to food, you were ok.

If you are looking to transport long distances you could look at the transport companies like Gillies, they're great for taking horses and ponies up and down the country.

Thanks Sasca (again!)
I've already emailed a couple for a quote.
It's crazy though, there's a goat up the road from me at a rescue centre, and the paperwork involved to move it 2 miles over here is ridiculous! Still, I don't want mine or the neighbours kids to catch mad-goat-tonguitis so I suppose it's worthwhile!
