I have a wonderful arrangement with a farmer that I 'work' for, and have use of several acres of land.
Knowing me, I will probably end up with a rescue horse or pony of some sort, but here goes!

I am 5'2, approaching 25, and am in need of a horse or pony that is capable of carrying upto 16 stone with ease. I have a soft spot for gypsy type cobs, and love anything podgy and hairy. I also have a love for Haflingers! I am not a competetive rider at all, and would relish the miles of woodside hacking and a plod around the village. I am keen to learn to drive horses, but this is not essential.
I have experience with youngsters, but would prefer to take in/on an older horse seeking a slower pace of life, and preferably sane and sensible, although I may consider some vices.

The ability to hack out alone, and live out all year is a must, although there is stabling I could use if he/she is in need of box rest. There are other horses and ponies for company, and I may consider taking on another horse as a companion at a later date.

I am a keen and capable rider, although a tad rusty after a 2 year break from riding. All of my money goes on animal care and welfare, hence the inability to buy a horse at present, however the running costs of horse ownership/loaning is not a problem.

I have wonderful horsey friends and the gent I rent my land from is also a horse owner, so plenty of experienced eyes to lend a hand where and if needed.

If you have a suitable horse or pony, please get in touch for an informal chat. Alternatively, if you are looking for a home for your horse or pony for whatever reason, please also give me a try. While I cant offer any money for a 'purchase', permanent, and loving home is assured.

You are more than welcome to come and homevet (I am in rescue and rehoming so understand the importance of wanting to see where your pet is going) and see the land I intend to use.

Unfortunatly you are after the only type that is holding their price at the moment. After a TB and you could pick them up in the 100s. Cobs n haffys are still very popular but if you get intouch with the local riding stables, they may be wantin to move on the oldies as they cant do the dozens of lessons a day. Worth a look if you dont mind an oldie....Have you tried the equines sanctuaries? they're ful to bursting at the moment.

Hi Sasca,

I'm not looking to buy a cob atm, only on loan, although have seen the prices stay at a steady amount.
I would only take one on permanently if in need, such as someone having lost their grazing and need a new home asap or would otherwise end up for meat.
I've only got space and funds to keep one or two comfortably, hence wanting to keep that space on for a horse or pony in need rather than save up for my own needs if that makes sense?

I have looked at sanctuaries, and none appear to have anything suitable for me, also they require a donation (which is usually a substantial one, quite rightly so, and if i had that kind of money, i would use to buy a horse of my own) although being in rescue myself, i dont begrudge them any money whatsoever.

An update to my earlier email...

Having just received a snotty email from the 'admin' of a relatively well known rescue, it appears that they have something against what they describe as a 'business', a business doing exactly as they do, taking in animals, giving them the very best in care, and finding permanent loving homes for them...

Anyway, having now been put off by the attitude shown, I am even more set against taking on a needy horse or pony from a rescue!

Thanks for suggesting it though Sasca.
