| I have two sizeable goldfish (about 7") which have lived in a pond outside for many years with a koi. Yesterday they were fine and today both are dead. One appears to be bloated (but can't be 100% certain). The weather has been extremely hot here for the last few days, but it's not the first hot summer I have had them for. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to know really as to whether I should be worried about my koi. I know it's random but don't has anyone else experienced this sudden loss in heat? |

it may be lack of oxygen (but i assume you have the pond well aerated for the koi?) ample oxygen is just vital in this weather. otherwise, if the one is bloatd that also suggests bacteria infection and swimbladder issues but if they were stressed due to the heat, that could also bring it on. Could you put shade over the pond at all? the fact that is was so quick and it was both of them suggests that something isn't right. Get the water tested and try not to get it to hot. i know thats rubbsh advice but im not sure what else you can do. If it was in a tank, i would get the water tested and give them antibacterial treatment. Sorry, hope your koi do well |
