I have re-homed several tortoises over the last 35 years, so have great experience with them. I currently have four - 2 males; one we've had for 36 years and the other for 6 months! and 2 females; one we've had for 30 years and the other for 15 years. We rehome in the long-term, so your tortoise will have a stable life. We'd like a new addition to the gang... They are highly sociable in a group, despite popular belief, and really enjoy being together. Our latest addition was a home-bound tortoise who had never met another one... despite our plans to gradually introduce him to others and the outside world, he took to it straight away! The tortoises are part of our family and are greatly loved. We have no other pets and two adult children, so your tortoise would be completely loved and doted on, and live a hassle-free life. They currently sleep and hibernate in a purpose-built shed/hut in the garden which is cleaned and renewed regularly with straw. They have a pretty laid-back lifestyle and stay in the sun/come inside as and when they please. We aren't interested in breeding and let them live their lives happily! It's extremely traumatic giving up any pet and I understand this. We re-homed two of our current tortoises because her owner's was emigrating. I therefore have no problem with you coming to have a look at our home and garden to ensure that you're happy leaving your totoise with us. We're also happy to send pics and updates in the future (our current re-homed tortoises owner didn't leave his details, and we often think how lovely it would be 15 years on to let him know she's happy and healthy) If you or anyone you know would like a new happy and healthy home for their tortoise, please don't hesitate to contact me tainturier@hotmail.com or call 07533115988. Happy to re-home from anywhere! |
