| Thanks for this. No beagle then. I will be interested in any other small/medium breeds available that are child friendly. |

a beagle would be the worst possible idea, they bay and it goes right through you. they are smart and get bored easily which means the chew - lots! they are stubborn and hard to work with....believe me anyone you see with a well behaved well trained beagle has worked very hard indeed! shih tzus and cavalier king charles spanials are great fun as long as they are treated like dogs. my little shih tzu walked the same distance as my dallies, did obedience and agility. she was a dear little thing and great with all, young and old. both need coat care esp if you plan to keep their coats longer and if going to a breeder make sure the parents have had hips eyes and hearts checked. this is important. my shih tzu as are all my dogs was a rescue and her hips were awful, her face started to collapse at the age of 2 and sadly she had to be put down at the age of 9. she lasted years longer than we thought she would but led a full and active life. if her parents had been health tested and so not bred from her life would have been so much nicer and a lot longer. |

| I am looking for a puppy as a companion to my 8 year old daughter. She loves dogs as do I. I am looking for a puppy in a breed that only grows to a small/medium size adult and one that will not bark all the time. A beagle has been suggested but difficult to find. Happy to pay. Can anyone help. Must be located around the Edinburgh, in Scotland region. I have trawled through over 20 scams so far. No more please |
