I Don't know if he has been taken to the vet yet or not but it certainly sounds as though by the time he was 4 when you had him first the pattern might have already developed.

Do you think he is spraying to attract you or a female .... sometimes they do this even after being neutered and they wish to gain your attention or that of another cat.

Hope this helps

ive got a cat with the same problem. She just pees in various places around the house and in the litter tray. She is perfectly happy and gets on well with her daughters, not stressed in any way but seems to prefere carpets and the laminate bathroom floor...

We have used special pet stain remover that uses enzymes to break it down so doesn't leave funny smells, and we've had all the carpets properly cleaned and she still .....

I think she has a week bladder and her body doesn't give her enough warning when she needs to go so she just runs to the nearest place....

Have u used a special floor wash u can usually get from a pet store. It takes away the smell of where hes been. Normal cleaning products dont work. Also can any other cat get in2 ur home. If it can he will pee 2 let the other cat know its his house. Also try cleaning out the litter tray completely about once a month so that his smell stays in the tray. Do not use usual cleaning products cause that will make him do it else where. Us a cat litter tray cleaner. hope this helps. I have 4 cats, oldest is 18 and youngest 8. good luck

I swear I am at my wit's end.

I love this cat, but I no longer know what to do. I've had this cat for 2 years, he is 6 years old. Healthy, shiny coat, bright eyes, and really affectionate.
My cat, is the needest cat I have every seen, he will follow me everywhere, he will jump up on the desk in front of my computer, he will follow me to the bathroom he will follow me to the bed, and I live in a small apartment and work at home. When I didn't work at home he wasn't this needy.

Also due to no health problems that I can find (no blood in the urine, no eating disorder, no drinking problems, The bladder is not hard, no crying, NOTHING!) My cat will randomly find a place. . . . usually where there's nice clean cloth, (canvas bag, suitcase, newly laundered clothes) and PEE on it. The liter box is clean, he will normally use it, in fact the same day he uses the liter box he will go pee on the laundry.

WHY does he always randomly pee outside the box once every 3-4 months or so?
It's like a pattern, It will stop and then all of the sudden, Boom, there's that smell again.
I love this kitty I truly do but I swear I really am at my wit's end.

How do I get the peeing to stop and WHY does he randomly do it?
