| Not an expert in Quakers but my thoughts were that they generally like there own kind and weren't the best in mixed aviaries. I dont know about in a pet situation or whether thats just for aviaries....Sorry, that wasn't much help at all was it! im sure someone else on here can give you better info |

| Ok - here's another question. Still thinking quakers, but not sure about some things I have read about them not liking other birds - is this a generalisation, or is there some truth in it? What about a maxi or blue headed pionus. Too big? |

It would be nice if you could eventually house them together, if not then at least let them out together. There are certain spots that only another parrot can scratch! I like to see birds paired up and think if you can get to that stage that would be really. Good luck whatever you decide |

| I have two quakers, three maroon bellied conures, a green cheeked conure and ajenday conure, who are all happy to be out at the same time in the living room. The conures are paired and keep to them selves mainly, but the others happily potter around in and out of each others cages. The blue quaker is quite a bit smaller than the green though, but they are lovely birds! |

| Thanks for the info - I was leaning towards the quaker: as for the noise conures make - tell me about it! |

Hi, if you are not planning to let them out together then it doesn't matter what you get really. If you want them to be friends and let them out at the same time eventually then I would suggest a bird of at least the same size. A quaker could be an option if that's what you fancy ;o). They are lovely birds, although noisey but then so are conures |

| I wasn't intending to keep them in the same cage! He has until recently shared a room with an alexandrine parakeet - who hated him too close to her cage but they were happy to cluck and chunter away to each other, but obviously they couldn't come out together. How about the quaker parakeet- they are about the same size, aren't they -or any other ideas? ? Not anxious to get another sun or jenday just in case seeing as you can't tell male/female by looking! BTW i got him from a reputable breeder as a sun, but as he has never grown the yellow wing patches, I suspect he is a jenday or a hybrid by accident as the breeder kept both |

If you want a friend for your sun conure I wouldn't suggest a green checked conure as they are part of the Pyrrhura family of conure's, your sun conure is part of the Aratinga family. Which are much bigger. You would need to find another larger type of conure from the aratinga family or something on similiar size ;o). Good luck |

| I have a tame sun conure (4yrs old) who until recently had another parrot friend keeping him company though not in the same cage. He is now without the friend and I am looking to find another handreared bird - thinking of a green cheeked conure or a quaker. Anyone have any experience of how suns would get on with either of these as he needs someone to talk parrot with as well as me! Glad for any pointers, and info of anyone in S West/Wales/Marches rearing either of these species |
